Emergency is good business
We hear that an army major makes 400 taka a day more if the country is under emergency rule.
So why would they want to lift emergency and give up that extra cash?

General MUA once again has expressed his opinion about withdrawal of Emergency rules in Bangladesh. There are many occassions he said that the Bangladesh Army has no interest of political affairs or on Government’s decisions. However as the Army chief he has been making all sorts of decision making comments and making a huge confusion among the people in the country and himself. How does he makes his comments on no political affairs needed in this natural disasters? Because of the politicians he is now the General of Bangladesh Army.Just for some corrupt politicians, the whole nation should not be deprived from their ultimate duties in this crisis.A lot of derailed Army officers have killed two of our Presidents, now do we punish the whole defense personnel for their doings? Some pandits or highly officials of our defense should look into this matter.

There is no need to tell you afresh about the devastation of Cyclone Sidr in Bangladesh. I am sure you are all aware, more or less, about it.
We have lost at least 4000 lives as of today, and some agencies estimate the loss to reach as high as 10,000. At least 300,000 people have lost their homes and are living a subhuman life under the open sky with barely anything to eat or drink. If you want to donate to help these victims, please click on the link below:
Bongobandhu Memorial Foundation of USA [a 501(c)(3) charity organization registered (Reg # 56-2403796) in the United States], in collaboration with Shuchinta Foundation in Dhaka, Bangladesh, already has volunteers on the ground who will be distributing aid at the camps that has been setup for the affected in the Southern coast of Bangladesh.
So please come forward for humanity. Even ten dollars can help feed a family in Bangladesh for a week.
And please feel free to share this message with any one you feel may be compassionate to this cause.

It’s time to open your wallets to our brothers and sisters hit by this demon of a cyclone.
I know that we can point people to donation pages like this “Save the Children”.
However, go further. Call your freinds and ask them to donate. Talk to your foreign colleagues and ask them to throw in a few bucks.
People do care so reach out to them. If each of us can reach out to 10 people we can make a difference.
God bless us all.

Mainul Hossain, a Jamati Advisor needs to close his big and ugly mouth, in 1971 I do not know if any of his family member lost the loved ones or any of his family member was dishonored by his beloved jamati rajakars? The answere must be no. His recent statements protecting the war criminals and also arguing against the demand of bringing the war criminals under justice is really a naked face of a treason against Bangladesh and 1971.If this guy do not shut his big and ugly mouth about 1971, we the people of Bangladesh will close his mouth one day.He must be brought under justice along with all other war criminals as there is no difference between them.

The obscurantist Imam is gone but watch out of the pseudo-secularists
Shabbir Ahmed
The controversial Imam of Baitul Mukarram Mosque, which is also dubbed as the National Mosque of Bangladesh, Maulana Obaidul Haque passed away a few days ago in early October 2007. Many expressed their grief and condolences for his sudden demise. As a chief Imam of the largest mosque in Bangladesh, he could have received respect and honor during his lifetime from all had he delivered only peaceful Fatwas based on the much hyped peaceful religion Islam. Unfortunately, he preferred to be a political Imam. For this, he was supported by Bangladesh Nationalist Party-Jamaat-i-Islami (BNP-JI) axis while he was criticized by the secular and pro-liberation forces for his lifetime controversial actions. In the past, he made outrageous remarks against freedom fighters and all other freedom loving Bengalis, who freed Bangladesh from the clutch of military-theocratic rule of Pakistan. This Razakar-minded Imam of Baitul Mukarram mosque called the freedom fighters as “Gaddars” meaning traitors.

It’s Eid and with our major crackdown on VOIP terminators, it was hard to get a call into Dhaka. As we were discussing this, a very interesting information was presented to us.
Those that call from the U.S might have used the calling card “Access Asia”. They were terminating in Chittagong. These guys apparently had to pay 50 lakhs to a group of Brigadiers to get off the hook.
There are rumors floating around that the Army is vying for a VOIP license. Can you imagine having your calls terminate in the cantonment?
Are we going from Hawa Bhaban to Sena Bhaban?

Page 29 of this document shows that Gen. Moeen Uddin Ahmed (MUA) had a loan outstanding from the Trust Bank in the amount of Tk 99 lakh on December 31st, 2005. One year later, on December 31st 2006 the loan amount was down to Tk 33 lakh.
How does a General, on a General’s salary, pay off Tk 66 lakh in one year?
The prospectus from the Trust Bank can be found here: MUA’s Loans from Trust Bank.

[An amazing amazing analysis by Mash, cross posted from DocStrangeLove. Once I started reading it, I could not stop. PLEASE read it and share it.]
In September Iranian President Mahmud Ahmedinejad delivered a speech at Columbia University amidst much protest. The protests stemmed from his views on the Holocaust. Under questioning Ahmedinejad conceded that the Holocaust had indeed happened, but he was calling for further “research” to “approach the topic from different perspectives”. In doing so, Ahmedinejad was engaging in the modern form of Holocaust Denial. Ahmedinejad’s “different perspectives” were on display last year when he called for a conference on the Holocaust. At the time, his spokesman declared “I have visited the Nazi camps in Eastern Europe. I think it is exaggerated.”

Ex home minister, AL law maker, and son of the great leader Captain M. Monsoor Ali, Mohammed Nasim was sentenced to 13 years in jail for corruption today by a Dhaka court.
His wife also got three years of jail term for abating her husband.
Although, we are disappointed at the MUA government for not doing anything to the rajakar Jamatis, we still approve of punishing known criminals like Mohammad Nasim. May he rest in jail.
