We are concerned about Dr. Fakruddin Ahmed’s new emergency rule regarding the freedom of press and expression in Bangladesh. We feel, while his caretaker government enjoys immense public support, this rule to restrict public media is a highly questionable one. We hope this interim government is NOT trying to promote eventual self censorship for anyone, especially the public media.
We also promise our Shuchinta readers that we will NOT stop at any threats to constructively criticize Dr. Fakruddin Ahmed’s interim government, AND mass share any information we feel the people of Bangladesh needs to know.
Like other sites, we will NOT take our site down, stop promoting the truth, or limit people’s expressions here at Shuchinta.

Lutfozzaman Babar, state minister for Home Affairs, was a key figure during the last Nizami-Khaleda government. Babar’s colorful career will no doubtedly interest many people.

Mokhlesur Rahman Chowdhury was removed yesterday from his post of adviser to the president after he tricked the country’s private television channels into suspending broadcast of their news bulletins under a censorship threat in the first hours of the state of emergency. Read the Daily Star report HERE.

President and chief adviser Professor Iajuddin Ahmed, who got the title of “Yes-uddin” from the public media for saying Yes always to madam Khaleda Zia resigned today as the chief adviser of the caretaker government. He also declared a state of emergency in Bangladesh and verbally gagged the media to report/write about any government issues.
We categorically oppose the media gag. We severely protest the curfew enacted by this government. We feel Mr. Iajuddin has zero credibility now and he should also resign as the president of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Decorative post it may be, but the president’s position is a respectable one.
Finally, we cannot put aside the possibility that this is another ploy by the Nizami-Khelda government to deny Bangladesh a fair election. They can do anything.
