Suicide for the People?

We have been saying from moment 1 that Dr. Iajuddin’s taking power was unconstitutional. He overlooked several options and without discussing with anyone took the position of the chief of the Caretaker Government. Only in a fascist country does one person have so much power.
We have written before that the 14 party alliance should protest his taking power from its inception. They did not. Senior AL officials informed us that they will be keeping a hawk’s eye on Dr. Iajuddin for a few days.

Now the alliance in running to him with 11 point demands. The ten advisers have been sworn in. What else is left for the alliance to do? Again create a movement and make Dr. Iajuddin step down? Can’t anyone see the absurdity of this?

Are we to believe that the alliance leaders who have political experience since before 1971 could not see the trap? What is wrong with this picture?

Already our intellectuals , some of the media, and the diplomats are busy praising Sheikh Hasina for her “patience and prudence.” And we all know how effective that is to soothe her.

Twenty seven people have died so far after the power handover. For what? Are their lives cheaper than seeing K. M. Hasan in power? Or Dr. Iajuddin?

We Object to Iajuddin

We earnestly request the 14 party alliance to reject President Iajuddin as the chief of the Caretaker Government. We believe this has a serious possibility of hampering the greater good of the people of Bangladesh, and possible political suicide for the progressive parties involved.

PLEASE, remember what happened in 2001 under Shanti Mia. He at least had a cover of neutrality before he took power. Dr. Iajuddin does not even have that.
